Dr. Andrew Weil has endorsed the majority of my books, and he has been an ally of mine for years — going all the way back to before I had a first book to my name.
Working with him in those early days was a pleasure, and I will say this plainly: he is probably the kindest doctor I have ever met. He never had anything to gain by supporting an unknown young trainer from San Diego, and he supported me anyway.
What he built matters far beyond my career. Through the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona, he has changed the lives of millions of people by refusing the false choice between Eastern and Western medicine. He saw the power of both — nutrition, breath, botanicals, sleep, and rigorous clinical science — and trained a generation of physicians to practice that way.
