Of everything in thirty years of this work, being chosen by Khloé Kardashian for Revenge Body remains one of the great honors. Khloé called and said, in effect: I have someone nobody has been able to help. Will you take her?
I took her. She had never lost weight before — not once, not for a week. She lost roughly fifty pounds, and more than that, she stopped negotiating with herself every morning. Khloé’s line on camera — “I have an amazing trainer for you” — is still the introduction I am proudest of.
The pizza
Nobody sticks to a plan that takes food away from them on a Friday night. So I built her a Margherita pizza that fit: high protein, low carbohydrate, real mozzarella, real basil, real tomato. It became her favorite dish on the show and the recipe OK! printed. The rule behind it is the only rule I have ever needed — protein up, carbs down, nothing removed from the table.
Why she was right about snacks all along
Watch what Khloé has built since. Her brand Khloud makes protein popcorn and protein chips — whole grains, no seed oils, seven grams of protein per serving, and seventeen grams in Khloud Plus. That is not a celebrity line-extension. That is the exact conversation we were having in that kitchen years ago, turned into something you can pull off a shelf at nine at night.
It is why Khloud sits squarely inside what I now recommend in MORE TIME: the snack aisle is where most midlife plans die, and a high-protein, low-sugar option in that aisle saves more diets than any gym membership. I believe in the popcorn. I believe in the chips. Mostly I believe in the woman who insisted they exist.
