Overcoming Adversity and Embracing Self-Discovery
Introduction
Jorge Cruise is a dad, yogi, 13X New York Times bestselling wellness author, renowned fitness trainer, and television personality known for his revolutionary approaches to health and wellness. With a focus on making fitness and weight loss accessible to everyone, Cruise has made a significant impact on the lives of millions of people around the world. A journey deeply intertwined with his family's legacy, especially the life of his mother, Gloria.
Chapter 1: Un hijo, one mission
Jorge's story begins with a girl born in Bogota, Colombia. Gloria Cansino, his mother, was destined to become a Mexican film star. By the age of 16, she had realized her dream, and when she retired, she had starred in 27 films (including Jorge’s favorite, "The Scalphunters") and 12 television shows. Tragedy struck Jorge's family when his mother passed away in 1996 at the age of just 64 from kidney failure due to the misuse and lack of knowledge of an over-the-counter drug, ibuprofen.
Before his mom’s passing, she encouraged young Jorge to meet Oprah Winfrey, as they used to watch The Oprah Winfrey Show together. This dream would later come true, as Jorge appeared on Oprah's show, fulfilling the promise he made to his late mother.
Chapter 2: Establishing a Career in Fitness and Nutrition
In college, Jorge started as a political science major. However, a business seminar by Anthony Robbins changed his path. Inspired by Robbins' words, "Make your vocation your vacation; you'll never work a day in your life," Jorge switched to fitness and nutrition.
His first book, "8 Minutes in the Morning," published in 2001, marked the beginning of a successful career in publishing. Translated into over 16 languages with a foreword by Anthony Robbins, Jorge's words resonated worldwide.
With over three decades in the fitness industry, Jorge's unique methodologies and philosophies have revolutionized the way people approach wellness. His hands-on approach and personalized techniques have earned him recognition as a leader in the field.
Jorge's career continues to flourish as he authored more than 30 books, 13 of them making the New York Times bestseller list—a record in the field selling over 12 million copies worldwide.
He also made numerous television appearances, including Good Morning America, The Today Show, EXTRA TV, E! News, Entertainment Tonight, LIVE with Kelly and Mark, The View, Steve Harvey, Khloe Kardashian’s Revenge Body, Radio Andy, People magazine, Prevention magazine, Apple, First for Women Magazine, and Women’s World Magazine.
Chapter 3: Personal Struggles and Self-Discovery
While Jorge enjoyed professional success, he faced personal struggles as well. He didn't come to terms with his sexual orientation until he was 39, which led to the end of his marriage with his wife and mother of his sons. This difficult time in his life was further exacerbated by a second divorce and a battle with alcoholism.
Jorge turned to a 12-step program for help, which allowed him to confront his ego and recognize the need for faith and a higher power in his life. Through this journey, Jorge embraced a daily practice of gratitude and the Serenity Prayer, which helped him find stability and inner peace.
Chapter 4: Finding Spirituality, Renewed Faith, and Embracing Yoga
Jorge also found solace in a regular yoga practice. He credits his daily yoga practice with helping him to cultivate a sense of calm and inner peace, as well as improve his physical health. Jorge has become a strong advocate for the benefits of yoga and encourages others to explore this ancient practice for themselves. Through these new experiences and spiritual practices, Jorge has continued to deepen his understanding of himself and his purpose in life.
Chapter 5: A New Venture – Zero Hunger Water
Jorge Cruise's passion for health and wellness led him to embark on yet another exciting venture – the formation of a beverage company called Zero Hunger Water, LLC. Partnering with David Allred, the co-founder of America's largest direct-to-consumer keto wine company, Dry Farm Wines, they aimed to create a revolutionary beverage that would help people control their hunger.
