As a single working father of two it is so important to me that I get quality sleep at night so that I can wake up and work and be on dad mode each day.
These days there seems to be a pill for everything and many times it’s needed for your body to recover or make up what it’s lacking chemically. But with things like sleep I prefer to not pop a pill. If you use medicine to sleep you are less likely to actually get the deeper REM sleep that rejuvenates you, and you’re also creating a chemical dependency for your body, full of tricky side effects.
The good thing is, the sleep aid industry is changing with more companies launching that provide non-pharmaceutical solutions to sleep. One of those that you may have heard about recently is weighted blankets as a trending new treatment for sleep!
One of my favorites is from a company called Gravity. They’ve created this amazing weighted blanket that helps you fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer – which make you feel more refreshed and relaxed when you wake up after a night of using it! Me and my kids use ours nightly, and from even the first night, we felt a huge difference in our sleep.
What’s even more amazing about Gravity is that they don’t just have weighted blankets. They have a full suite of sleep products, including the Weighted Sleep Mask and Aromatherapy Pillow.
Some of the main reasons I love them:
- The Gravity Blanket: Uses the same science as a hug! The pressure on your body slows cortisol (stress hormone) production and increases serotonin production. Helping you calm and ground yourself when going to sleep.
- Aromatherapy Pillow: Uses lavender essential oil to relax the body and mind throughout the night.
- The Weighted Sleep Mask puts pressure on key points on your face to promote grounding and relaxation.
