Why You Should Try CVAC

Why You Should Try CVAC

I’m a fitness trainer, so of course, I think that staying healthy with good old-fashioned physical activity is the best way to go. You have to exercise and work up a good sweat to get the results you want — there isn’t an easy way around that! And we all know that besides the toning benefits you get from exercise, it’s great for energy, sleep, and mental clarity and well-being. Exercise is the gold standard when it comes to feeling great and improving your overall health.

That said, there’s been some very cool, recent advances in fitness technology that may allow you to forego some of those exercise efforts, while still providing an optimal body conditioning experience. A machine that can improve your body’s energy system functioning, while you sit comfortably in a pod and relax. Sounds too good to be true, right? I thought so too, so I decided to give it a try. What I discovered was an amazing, super-cool new wellness device that is creating a lot of buzz — it’s called CVAC.

In the CVAC™ Process, which stands for the Cyclic Variations in Adaptive Conditioning™, effort and workload are each varied and increased by using patterned sequential progression in amplitude of dynamic pressure changes to fresh air. I’ve gotten to know the super-intelligent team at CVAC, because I’m always eager to try new solutions that will increase my performance and my overall wellness. They have a ton of research and development behind their technology to prove that regular, rhythmic use of the CVAC Process can elicit some of the same benefits gained through traditional exercise.

So basically…you sit in a pod and relax for about 20 minutes while the machine does all this amazing work! It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned, professional athlete or if you are completely out-of-shape and unconditioned — people of all activity levels can utilize this cutting-edge technology.

The CVAC process provides the benefits of traditional aerobic and anaerobic exercise, without the joint stress and physical exertion that can be associated with it. So not only is it great for active people who want to decompress and re-energize, but it’s also a fantastic solution for people who are not conditioned and can’t engage in physical exercise for whatever reason. The machine creates an environment inside the pod where those who are sedentary can enjoy the same cellular conditioning benefits as those who are more fit.

For athletes and active people, you know and understand that working out improves your overall body fitness by increasing demand on your body’s energy systems. In CVAC sessions, your fitness is also improved by increased effort, but the challenges are provided by varied changes in air pressure. The body naturally adapts to this increased demand, which improves and accelerates fitness even more. One benefit that many CVAC users report is an improvement in the use of available oxygen, which could result in longer cardio workouts with less exhaustion. So, you can improve your performance and endurance naturally and faster by improving your recovery.

So, what happens during a CVAC session? You sit back and chill out in the CVAC Pod. As the pressure changes, there are changes in the temperature and density of the air, and there are periods of warmer air and of cooler air. One thing that’s important to note here is that you’ll need to clear your ears as the pressure changes (as you would in an airplane). In a CVAC session, air is drawn out of the pod, creating a low-pressure environment, and making the air thinner and cooler. Fresh, filtered air is dynamically returned to the pod, which varies the density of the air. So cool, right?

Want to find out more about the benefits of CVAC and find out where you can try it in your area? Visit CVAC’s website for more information about this amazing technology, the science behind it, and how it could up your wellness game!

Relax and Recover with Massage

Relax and Recover with Massage

Being a fitness trainer, it’s literally my job to be as active as possible, and I spend a lot of time working out both in the gym and outdoors. Exercise is an incredibly potent tool to make your body and mind stronger and healthier, but it also takes its toll. Sore muscles, stiffness, pain, and exhaustion are common after a workout, so I’m always looking for ways to relax and recover from all the physical intensity I put my body through! Getting older also makes it a little harder to bounce back from a tough gym session or spin class. Don’t get me wrong, I’m in great shape in my late 40’s and I feel fantastic, especially on my Cruise Control Fasting program. But my body definitely “complains” more than it did in my 20’s. And of course, our high-stress society is another factor that can wreak havoc on our bodies.

One of my favorite ways to unwind and destress is with a soothing massage. It’s a truly ancient therapy that dates back thousands of years to civilizations that believed in its healing benefits. The hands-on techniques used in massage have been shown to increase circulation, relieve anxiety and tension, reduce stress, improve sleep, and promote relaxation throughout the entire body.

My friends at Myobuddy understand the importance of a good, relaxing, therapeutic massage, and they make the most amazing line of professional-strength massagers that everyone can enjoy. Professionals will tell you that Myobuddy is the gold standard in massagers, and now they’re available for personal use. You used to have to go to a massage therapist to get this level of treatment, but with Myobuddy’s at-home devices, you can give yourself a professional-level experience whenever it’s convenient for you, day or night.

Why do Myobuddy Massagers feel so incredibly good on your sore body? Because their engineers have figured out a way to combine precise levels of vibration, percussion, and frictional heat to truly relieve aches, pains, and stiffness.

When we work out, our body’s soft tissue areas — including muscles, tendons, and connective tissue — can get tight, sore, and tense. Studies show that therapeutic massage is really effective for reducing muscle tension, pain and stress, and other researchers have found that massage can also have a positive impact on anxiety and digestive disorders.

After an intense workout or just after a long, stressful day, a massage really boosts my sense of emotional and physical well-being. Taking some time to relax and unplug with this professional-level device definitely helps me work out all the kinks! Whether I’m trying to get some relief in an acute pain area, reduce overall muscle tension, or just enjoy some relaxation, massage therapy has become a really important part of my personal wellness routine.

Another great benefit of massage is that it helps release toxins from your system. Massage causes chemicals to be released within the body, which bring toxins out of your muscles. Who knew a little hands-on, touch therapy could have so much value! And with Myobuddy’s affordable options, you can find a massager and soothing, skin-loving products that work for you.

Myobuddy Massagers are the tool of choice for clinical practitioners and those seeking professional massage therapy for stressed out, stiff bodies. Check out all their amazing massagers and products on their website, and to stay on top of all that’s going on in the Myoboddy community, follow them on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Dental Health is More Than a Fabulous Smile

Dental Health is More Than a Fabulous Smile

A lot of people think that dental health is just about your teeth — getting them straight, bright, and cavity-free. As a celebrity fitness trainer in Hollywood, whose clients always have to be ready for their close-ups, I understand the importance of a beautiful smile and set of teeth!

But beyond just the cosmetic aspect, recent research is proving that the more diligent you are about your oral hygiene, the healthier you may be overall. Various studies have suggested that what goes on with our teeth and gums can influence multiple systems in our bodies — even our heart health! This connection may seem a bit far-fetched, but more and more data is backing up the notion that what happens inside our mouths impacts way more than just our teeth and gums.

This is where my friend Dr. Gabe Rosenthal and his incredible team of experts and hygienists comes in. Beyond just the cosmetic, their practice addresses any and every oral health issue you may encounter. From root canals, to same-day crowns, to dental implants, they have your complex cosmetic and restorative dental cases covered. Dr. Rosenthal grew up in a dental family…it’s in his blood, so to speak! So, he and his entire team are totally dedicated to providing the most gentle, personalized, and highest quality care.

Although there isn’t a proven cause-and-effect relationship, researchers acknowledge there is indeed a relationship between oral health and overall wellness. Gum disease, for example, is linked to a slew of issues including heart disease, diabetes, respiratory disease, osteoporosis, and rheumatoid arthritis. In fact, it’s considered one of the most common chronic inflammatory conditions in the world, because our mouths are the ultimate portal of entry for infections. The theory is that inflamed gums can allow bacteria to enter the bloodstream, which may lead to more inflammation in other parts of our bodies — such as the heart or the lungs.

I’ve actually heard some really crazy stories from clients about how they were able to catch underlying, chronic conditions — like high blood pressure and anemia — because their dentists saw something during their bi-annual check-up that indicated something else may be wrong, and recommended that they see their primary care doctor to check it out. So don’t put it off — visiting your dentist every six months to get your check-ups and cleanings is a simple way to keep an eye on your overall health.

All this said, please don’t get me wrong! I understand that the cosmetic stuff is really important, too — like teeth-whitening and straightening. No worries because Dr. Rosenthal and his staff are the best in the business, and offer all the latest whitening treatments and Invisalign.

So let’s all step up our oral hygiene routine to improve our overall wellness! To find out more about all the dental services Dr. Gabe Rosenthal and his team provide, check out his website, and follow all their happenings on Facebook, and Twitter.

It all starts TODAY…come join the Cruise Control Fasting Revolution! I’m so excited to announce that my new book, The Cruise Control Diet, just dropped today and it’s now available wherever books are sold, so go pick one up!

What is Cruise Control Fasting? It’s my own spin on the popular process of intermittent fasting, which is a really powerful tool to transform your health. In over 20 years of being a fitness trainer and wellness expert, I’ve never seen anything more effective for losing belly fat…and there are a slew of other health benefits, as well.

What nutrition experts and researchers have discovered in recent years is that when we eat is just as important as what we eat. There is real, scientific evidence stating that if you follow the basic intermittent fasting principle of an 8-hour eating window and a 16-hour fasting window, you will lose weight…even up to a pound a day! So, what’s the catch? Those who follow a traditional program often feel totally ravenous during that window of abstaining, either early in the morning or late at night. Nobody likes that uncomfortable, empty feeling — which is where Cruise Control Fasting comes in!

With my new program, you can harness all the power of intermittent fasting and NEVER feel deprived or starved, because I found a way to cheat the fast with healthy fats. Drinking delicious coffees and teas laced with fats like grass-fed butter, MCT oil, and heavy cream will keep you satiated in those morning hours, so you can successfully power through until your 8-hour eating window begins. And if you have nighttime cravings? You can enjoy sweet, sugar-free treats like my double chocolate mousse, to fill you up before bedtime without disrupting your fast.

And what about those two meals you can have during your 8-hour eating window? The world is your oyster…there are so many healthy options to enjoy. I have tons of recipes in the new book, but generally I recommend eating an anti-inflammatory diet consisting of 50% fats, 30% healthy carbs, and 20% protein. Tacos, burgers, pasta…there are lots of delicious choices, enough to please everyone’s palate!

So take my 28-day challenge, and see for yourself how automating your diet with Cruise Control Fasting and following a sensible exercise plan can help you lose weight, blast belly fat FAST, age and disease-proof your body, get better sleep, and have more energy. And the best part is you’ll never feel hungry!

Drink Tastier Water

Drink Tastier Water

Share this:

I’ve been a celebrity trainer for 25 years now, and I say it all the time — one of the #1 rules when it comes to diet, exercise, and keeping your body inbalance is that you must stay hydrated. There’s no getting around it, you have to be diligent about getting a whole lot of water into your daily routine. In theory, it’s such an easy thing to do…but it still feels like a chore, right? Because let’s face it, water, while clean and refreshing, is BORING! You’d give anything for it to taste like something…anything. But carrying fresh fruit around to squeeze into your water throughout the day isn’t the most convenient solution.

This is why I love the idea of water enhancers, like the team at Stur make! Ingenious drink mixes that are totally portable and make your water so much tastier. Health experts recommend drinking eight to ten 8-ounce glasses per day — which equals about 2 liters, or half a gallon. That’s a LOT of water, you guys! But Stur has you covered, with a variety of satisfying flavors to choose from.

Stur Liquids have zero sugar and calories, and they’re also high in antioxidant vitamin C. They come in a bunch of delicious flavors, and the liquids are gluten-free and kosher, too. So, even more people can reach their daily water intake goals with more flavor and fun. Just give it a quick squeeze and it’s ready to drink!

Stur Powders are low-sugar, low-calorie mixes, high in antioxidant Vitamin C and sweetened with a blend of organic cane sugar and stevia. The packets are specially designed to take on the go — so throw a few in your bag or the car, and you’ll always have juicier water at your fingertips.

What I also love about Stur is that they’re a family-run company who’s truly passionate about helping others live better, healthier lives by hydrating naturally. They only use simple ingredients, so their drink mixes actually taste like they came from nature — not a science lab.

I can’t express enough how important it is for our bodies to stay hydrated, and you may experience some unpleasant side effects if you don’t. Many of my clients complain that when they don’t drink enough water throughout the day, their energy levels and overall brain function suffers. There are plenty of studies to support this notion, too, that mild dehydration caused by exercise or heat can have a negative impact on our mental function.

So, let’s set our bodies up for success by getting more serious about our daily water intake! Products like Stur drink mixes can help all of us reach our healthy hydration goals, and make it a little more interesting along the way. I always like to drink lots of water in the morning — but you should space your servings of water out throughout the day, however it works best for you.

To find out more about the benefits of staying well-hydrated and to check out all of their natural water inhancers, head over to Stur’s website. And to keep up with all the latest happenings in hydration, check them out on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.

A Hot Daily Detox

A Hot Daily Detox

Share this:

Some may say it’s just a buzzy, Hollywood trend – doing a “detox” – but in reality, detoxification has been practiced for centuries by many different civilizations around the world. It’s about resting and cleansing your body, so that it can reset and perform at its most optimal level. By removing toxins, then feeding your body healthy, whole foods and nutrients, detoxifying can actually help disease-proof your entire body system. Detoxification generally means cleansing the blood, which is done by removing impurities from the blood in the liver, where toxins are then processed for elimination from the body.

Some of the symptoms that may make you eager to try a detox include: fatigue, slow bowels, allergies, skin irritation, menstrual issues, infections, bloating, puffy eyes, and even emotional distress or mental confusion. All of these are pretty unpleasant, right? So, if you’re experiencing these issues and can’t seem to put your finger on why, it may just be that your body needs a good spring cleaning!

There are many different ways to detox: Fasting, meditating, doing a juice cleanse, practicing yoga, or even doing an elimination diet to remove one specific dietary irritant, like gluten or dairy. But there is another really cool way to detox your body that you can safely do every single day, and it’s called infrared sauna therapy.

Sauna detox is being embraced more and more as a healthy treatment option in the world of functional medicine. Why? Because sweating is good for you! Sweating is one of the body’s safest and most natural ways to eliminate toxins, and my friends at Sunlighten build detox saunas that are designed to promote a deep, cleansing sweat. They are true leaders in the industry, using the highest-grade materials and state-of-the-art technology to create their beautiful, functional saunas.

So many of us are trying to get away from excess medications and pill-popping, and find more natural ways to treat our various ailments. Sauna detoxification is getting more and more attention, and with good reason – it’s a simple, relaxing activity you’d want to do anyway, AND it’s actually good for you! The build-up of toxic substances in our bodies can lead to a variety of common illnesses, so getting rid of these harmful substances through a natural sauna detox may help relieve symptoms. And hey, it may even contribute to the prevention of future illness, which is never a bad thing.

Scientists, doctors, and researchers have told us for ages that the body sweats out toxic substances, including heavy metals. But as long as you maintain proper hydration – in other words, drink a TON of water – the theory is that the more you sweat, the more toxins you’ll expel from your body. And one of the safest, most effective ways to work up a detoxifying sweat is in a sauna, where your body perspires tons of different toxins through your pores.

Another quick shout-out to Sunlighten here, because their technology is really different, special, and top notch. Their saunas are highly effective for detox because of their patented Solocarbon far infrared heating technology, which works to better heat your body’s core to expel toxins, rather than simply heating the ambient air in the sauna to draw them out. It’s very cool stuff — and I’m all for embracing devices or treatments that will facilitate good health and optimal wellness.

So hopefully I’ve peaked your interest here, but as with any type of treatment or modality, there are some guidelines to keep in mind if you decide to try sauna detoxification:

  • Hydrate. You’re going to sweat a LOT. So before, during, and after your sauna session, it’s important that you drink plenty of water to rehydrate.
  • Set Time Limits. The amount of time you spend in a sauna session will vary, depending on a variety of personal factors — so take it slow at the beginning; 10-15 minute sessions every other day. Gradually, you’ll increase towards longer, daily sessions in the optimal temperature range.
  • Find a Comfortable Temperature. There is a general, optimal range for the best detox benefits, but within that window, choose a temp you’re comfortable with.
  • Rinse Off. After each session, remember to dry off with a towel. It’s best to let your body cool off naturally, while still burning calories. Finish it off with — you guessed it — a glass of water!

To find out more about the benefits of infrared sauna therapy and see all their amazing sauna products, head over to Sunlighten’s website. And to keep up with all the latest happenings, research, and news, check them out on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.
