Breathe Easier This Spring

Breathe Easier This Spring

Share this:

I really love spring! Even though I live in California where the weather is warm all the time, you can still smell spring in the air when it arrives. But the downside to all that fresh, lovely air? All the allergens, pollutants, and toxins that come along with it. Seasonal allergies are such a nuisance…whether you experience one or all of the symptoms, they’re all pretty uncomfortable: runny/itchy nose, congestion, sneezing, watery/red eyes, itchy throat, ear congestion, post-nasal drip, and headaches. Me and my boys all suffer from allergies and congestion, so we’re constantly looking for solutions that will help us breathe easier.

An awesome solution I discovered years ago and use religiously is a nasal spray made by Xlear, which contains a natural substance called xylitol. Xylitol is a natural sweetener, but interestingly, it also has many other health benefits. One of the many uses of xylitol is in sinus care products. Xlear saline nasal spray is the only nasal spray on the market that contains xylitol, which moistens and soothes skin by pulling water to the skin surface. Another benefit is how xylitol interacts with bacteria – it’s non-fermentable, meaning bacteria can’t use it in their metabolic process and can’t thrive. Xylitol also as an anti-adhesive quality, which prevents bacteria from adhering to cell tissue. Because bacteria must attach to tissue in order to flourish, xylitol reduces their effect without harmful chemicals or drugs.

Putting natural ingredients in my body – and making sure my boys are doing the same – is very important to me. Obviously, being a fitness trainer and wellness coach, I put a lot of time and effort into my overall health, and I always want to use the safest, most effective solutions I can find. So I like to support companies like Xlear, who are creating natural products we can all feel good about. They make products for adults and kids alike, so it’s safe for the whole family to use.

It’s so cool that Xlear has found so many practical uses for xylitol. Besides the sinus care benefits, it was originally used as a natural alternative to sugar with its 1:1 sweetness ratio. It has virtually no effect on blood sugar and insulin levels, so it’s safe for those with diabetes, and for kids. It also has 40% fewer calories than sugar. Another well-researched use of xylitol is in oral health products. This natural sweetener’s ability to promote a healthier mouth is backed by many studies, and the products in Xlear’s Spry Dental Defense System include amounts that have been found to be most effective.

So, back to those spring allergies and your sinuses. When my boys and I started using Xlear’s nasal sprays and rinses, it was literally life-changing. Whether you have allergies or not, we all take in so many pollutants and toxins as we move through our day. Making a spray or rinse part of your daily health routine can go a long way in improving your overall sinus health, your breathing – and by extension, your sleep. In fact, my friends at Xlear always preach that cleaning your nasal passages is just as important as cleaning your hands, and you should flush out your nose throughout the day. A good tip is to use a nasal product with xylitol each time you wash your hands.

So hopefully all of this information has convinced you to try Xlear Sinus Care products to breathe a little easier. It works on your sinuses as well as your throat, keeping your whole upper respiratory system feeling more clear. It’s a gentle mist that clears nasal and sinus congestion that’s made from simple, natural ingredients. It’s also non-addictive, can be used with other medications, and most importantly, it’s safe for daily use.

So stop suffering from spring allergies and overall nasal congestion with natural products you can use daily to breathe easier. Reduce Inflammation By Putting It on Ice

Reduce Inflammation By Putting It on Ice

Being a fitness trainer for over 20 years, I’m constantly trying to up my wellness and performance game, and I’m always receptive to trying the latest health trends. I consider myself to be a biohacker, which means “hacking” your biology and improving your health with cutting-edge science and technology. I love experimenting with cool new ways to advance my overall health, my performance, my sleep, and my mental clarity. One of the most mind-blowing new advances that’s become popular in recent years is called cryotherapy. All of my celebrity clients have tried it…you’ve probably seen it on TV or online, where people jump into a frigid booth and bounce around for a few minutes.

Cryotherapy is the science of exposing the body to truly freezing, sub-zero temperatures of up to -140°C in order to stimulate physical and mental health benefits. It also reduces inflammation in the body, by boosting an anti-inflammatory chemical. So, why is this therapy’s impact on inflammation so important? Because inflammation is the root, underlying cause of many health issues and conditions, and simply lowering it can mean a stronger body. And when it comes to cryogenic solutions, the brilliant team at CRYO Science make the safest and most effective devices.

Back to inflammation…I think it’s important to break this down a little more, since many people don’t realize the dramatic impact it can have on your body. Inflammation, or swelling, is a very important process — a crucial part of the immune system’s response to injury and infection. It’s the body’s way of sending a big SOS to the immune system to swoop in, heal, and repair damaged tissue, and it also helps the body defend itself against foreign critters, like bacteria or viruses.

There are also a bunch of diseases that are classified as inflammatory, like allergies, asthma, autoimmune disorders, inflammatory bowel disease and hepatitis. I know for a fact that none of those are pleasant!

Clearly it would be unrealistic to cut out inflammation completely, given how many different bodily systems it affects at any given time. For example, you may be an asthma sufferer who just sprained their knee — that’s a double-whammy of inflammation to fight! But it’s also clear that reducing the overall amount of it in your body will make you feel better and stronger. So it’s not surprising that solutions like cryotherapy are so popular, if one of the body-loving benefits is the reduction of inflammation.

Cryotherapy has been shown to have a variety of benefits, including anti-aging perks, pain relief, stress relief, and even weight loss. Now, a little more on how cryotherapy can help with recovery and inflammation, in particular. As I mentioned before, most injuries cause the body to become inflamed, swollen and red, and reducing that inflammation is how we recover from injuries. According to a slew of recent medical studies, cryotherapy has been shown to help you recover from most injuries faster by reducing inflammation and boosting blood circulation throughout the injured area. My friends at CRYO Science are the leaders in cryogenic solutions — they offer state-of-the-art cryotherapy chambers for full body treatments, as well as devices that provide more localized therapies.

While we’re talking about inflammation, I want to pass along a few other tips for reducing it. First off, you need to eat an anti-inflammatory diet. In my new book, The Cruise Control Diet, I talk about how important it is to eat foods that will lower inflammation, and I give you tons of meal options and recipes that are delicious and healthy. An important component to my Cruise Control Fasting plan — my spin on intermittent fasting where you cheat the 16-hour fast with healthy fats — is that you eat an anti-inflammatory diet consisting of 50% fats, 30% healthy carbs, and 20% protein during your 8-hour eating window.

Next, make time to exercise. Of course I’m going to tell you that, since fitness is my business! Figuring out what types of workouts you like and getting your blood pumping regularly will keep your body fit and make you feel great. And finally, figure out ways to lower your stress. Meditate, do some deep breathing, read, listen to music…whatever it is that calms you down and brings you peace, do it as often as you can.

Exposing the entire body to cryogenically-cooled air promotes regeneration, recovery and restoration. CRYO Science wants to inspire people to live their best and most powerful lives with their cutting-edge tech. Powerful Hydration Tips

Powerful Hydration Tips

Share this:

In the 20+ years that I’ve been a fitness trainer and wellness expert, I’ve said this time and time again…I’m like a broken record. No matter what diet or nutrition plan you follow or what types of workouts you do, hydration is crucial to keeping your body in balance. There’s no question, our bodies depend on water to survive. Every cell, tissue, and organ in our bodies needs water to function properly. Dehydration occurs when we don’t drink enough water — through excessive sweating, diarrhea, vomiting or exercise. When we’re dehydrated, it’s common to feel faint, have a headache, experience cramps, or feel fatigued. Not fun!

One other thing I do during and after an intense workout besides rehydrating is making sure I get enough electrolytes. These are really important for keeping your body hydrated and in good balance. When you do intense exercise, you can sweat out too many of your electrolytes. Many sports-type drinks that have electrolytes also contain a lot of sugar and other nasty chemical ingredients. I’ve found an electrolyte product that I love that is totally natural called LyteShow. It’s a concentrate that you add to water, it adds a lemony tang, and a little goes a long way so it’s a great value.

On my new Cruise Control Fasting plan, which is my spin on intermittent fasting, I offer lots of ways to “cheat the fast” so you never feel hungry during your 16-hour fast. Many times, even when you’re NOT fasting – you can feel “false hunger” when you’re simply thirsty or low on electrolytes. So it’s really important to hydrate and also replace your electrolytes — especially before and after a workout.

My friends at LyteLine, who make LyteShow in addition to a whole line of amazing supplements, say they simply create BETTER hydration products. I know for a fact that the team at LyteLine always use, drink and take the products they make themselves. Their products don’t taste like your typical sports drinks — they taste so much better, because it’s not just the usual sugar water. LyteLine’s fresh flavor is intense, because their teams says their commitment to hydration is intense! They make a bunch of different types of products, including these awesome rip packs that I carry around with me everywhere, electrolyte drops, and LyteZone sports drinks. It’ll all have you feeling great after you drink it!

Are you finding it hard to get the recommended amount of water in each day? It’s super-important, not just for keeping your body in balance, but if you’re following a plan like my Cruise Control Fasting program, you don’t want to have any false hunger pangs slowing you down. Here are a few powerful tips for staying better hydrated:

  • As I mentioned before, drink before, during, and after exercise.
  • Don’t wait until you’re thirsty to drink water – if you wait that long, you are already somewhat dehydrated!
  • Eat lots of fruits and vegetables, which have a high water content.
  • Carry a reusable water bottle with you, so you always have a container to fill up wherever you are.
  • As I said earlier, if you think you’re feeling hungry, drink some water first. It may be false hunger and you may just be thirsty.
  • Drink water at a restaurant before you order. When your body is properly hydrated, it’s easier to tell how truly hungry you are. This can prevent you from overeating!

So make sure you get all your water servings in each day, and use products like LyteShow to keep your water brimming with crucial electrolytes. To find out more about LyteLine’s amazing line of hydration products, head over to their website. And to keep up with all the latest happenings in the world of LyteLine, check them out on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.

Affordable Meals for Busy People

We’re all SO busy these days, like little hamsters in a wheel! I’m literally scheduled down to the minute on most weekdays, so I always have the stress of something going long and then being late for the next thing. I know many of you can relate to that; being so scheduled that we don’t take any downtime. We’re all juggling so many activities in our schedules and dealing with so many stressors, it’s not surprising that so many of us are not living our best, healthiest lives. Between home, family, work, and all the other elements that contribute to our lives, we barely get a moment to catch our breath and relax. Gathering for dinner is a great opportunity to unplug and reconnect with loved ones, but that can be stressful too — especially if you’re the one responsible for getting food on the table! Sometimes it feels as though there are simply not enough hours in the day to get to everything on your list.

So what if I told you that there’s a totally game-changing meal delivery service out there that is not only quick and convenient, but also affordable? I’m talking about chef-prepared, genuinely healthy meals with optimal taste and nutrition. You can pause, cancel or change your Factor 75 meal plan at any time.

You may think that a meal delivery service is out of reach for you, but Factor 75 provides an impeccable level of quality for the cost. Their meals are prepared by gourmet chefs, who use the finest ingredients and ensure the dishes are as appealing as they are wholesome. Rather than going out and buying tons of produce and groceries each week that just go to waste if you don’t eat them fast enough, you can use your food budget to have fresh meals delivered instead. If you do the math, you may find that you’re actually saving on your food bills.

Their in-house dietitians also assess each and every dish, to make sure that each meal is nutritionally-optimized. Celebrate with Wine, Naturally

Celebrate with Wine, Naturally

It’s been a really exciting couple of weeks for me, due to the launch of the Cruise Control Fasting Revolution and the release of my new book, The Cruise Control Diet! The book has been creating a lot of buzz, and I’m so grateful that the word is spreading far and wide about this truly life-changing weight loss plan.

What is Cruise Control Fasting? It’s my spin on the popular trend of intermittent fasting, which is an incredibly powerful tool in transforming your health. Mainly characterized by limiting your eating window to 8 hours, then fasting for 16 hours, it’s very effective in helping you lose weight and belly fat, age and disease-proof your body, and increase energy. But there is a major downside to typical IF protocols – you’re hungry! However, with Cruise Control Fasting, hunger isn’t an issue because I show you how to “cheat the fast” with healthy fats that keep you feeling full and satisfied.

There have been so many blessings to celebrate this month, and when life provides those moments, I like to kick back with a glass of wine! Enjoying some robust vino with good friends over a delicious meal is one of life’s great joys. And depending on what type of wine you choose – and how much you have – it can be a healthy addition to a well-balanced diet. In fact, one of the facets of the heart-healthy Mediterranean diet (in addition to olive oil, vegetables, and fish) is wine. There is a magical, natural polyphenol in red wine called resveratrol that has multiple benefits, including an increased life span. Not a bad side-benefit to sipping on some wine.

On my Cruise Control Fasting plan, you’re allowed to indulge in some wine up to three times per week, if you want. It’s ok to enjoy some wine in moderation during your eating window — cheers to that! However, there are some guidelines to keep in mind, which I mention in the book — organic and sulfate-free wines are best. And beyond that, there is a family of wines that I absolutely love and have been recommending to everyone – Dry Farm Wines. I like these wines so much that I actually suggest them in the book!

My friends at Dry Farm Wines curate the finest sustainably-grown, natural wines that they lab-test for the highest standard of health. They produce high-quality varieties from small family farms that are all organic, sugar-free, carb-free, and mold-free. They take the time to test each wine to guarantee that it is low in sulfates, and they never include any additives. Their wines taste fresh and vibrant; a special treat to enjoy as part of an overall, healthy lifestyle.

If you check out the testimonials on the Dry Farm Wines website, you’ll see a who’s who of the wellness world, singing the praises of these tasty wines. They are pure, artisanal, and deliciously clean. I was so thrilled to give this wonderful family of wines a shout-out in The Cruise Control Diet, and I love the whole team over there! Thank you for joining in the celebration when the book came out earlier this month.

Because wine enjoyment is an important part of living well, the team at Dry Farm Wines searches far and wide to find world-class, whole, and natural family-farmed wines that are naturally low in alcohol, and sugar and carb free. They even have a great Friends of the Farm Wine & Social Club, if you want to receive a unique selection of biodynamic natural wines. Find out more about all of these beautiful, healthy wines at Dry Farm Wines’ website, and follow the Dry Farms Wine community on Facebook, Instagramand Twitter.

Real Solutions for a Healthier, Happier Life

Real Solutions for a Healthier, Happier Life

Being a fitness trainer with lots of clients relying on me, I’m always looking for ways to up my wellness game and stay as healthy as possible. I want to bring my best energy and efforts to every workout, so I love finding creative ways to optimize my diet and lifestyle to set me up for success. And while there isn’t always a way to completely defend myself from all the pesky environmental toxins around me, I try to protect myself from the elements as much as I can! Anything I can do to keep my nose, sinuses, throat, and even my mouth clean and healthy is a great first step in defending against annoying bugs and springtime allergies.

So what if I told you there was a natural substance that could help you eat sweeter, breathe better, and even smile cleaner? What is this modern-day miracle, you ask?! It’s called xylitol, and it’s really amazing stuff. It’s a crystalline substance that looks and tastes like sugar, but it’s not an artificial sweetener — it’s a natural sugar alcohol found in many fruits and vegetables. It’s also produced in small amounts by the body, so it’s safe for humans to consume, including kids.

Look, we all know we need to cut back on processed products that aren’t good for us; convenience foods loaded with preservatives, chemicals, and added sugar and salt. We’re all looking for more natural solutions in our daily lives, and the xylitol products that my friends at Xlear make can bring you one step closer to living a simply healthier, happier life.

There are lots of different uses for xylitol; in fact, it’s been researched for over 40 years, resulting in a slew of studies confirming its effectiveness and safety. The amazing team at Xlear have put all that cool research to good use, and they’re passionate about using this multi-benefit substance to make high-quality, natural products. The most obvious purpose is to use xylitol as a sugar-free sweetener, which is especially helpful for people battling diabetes or those eliminating sugar from their diet. But there are so many other, additional benefits!

Believe it or not, xylitol also has a positive impact on oral health, so Xlear makes products ranging from gum, toothpaste, mints, and even floss. This natural sweetener’s ability to promote a healthier mouth is backed by many clinical studies, and the products in Xlear’s Spry Dental Defense System include amounts that have proven to be effective. And of course, all the flavors are totally delicious.

Another, less-known use of xylitol is in sinus care products. Xlear saline nasal spray is a patented solution, and it’s the only nasal spray on the market that contains xylitol. It moisturizes and soothes dry nasal and sinus passages, and also helps rid the body of allergens and other inhaled pollutants. Even better, when xylitol is used in a saline nasal spray, it can work against the bacteria you breathe in, resulting in a cleaner upper respiratory system. And it’s safe to use daily, so you can make it a regular habit. I know I’m not alone in suffering from seasonal allergies from time to time, so having a preventive tool that keeps my sinuses clear goes a long way in breathing better and easier.

Small changes go a long way in contributing to your overall health, so I invite you to learn more about xylitol and all of Xlear’s amazing products on their website. And to stay on top of all that’s going on in the Xlear community, follow them on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.
