Being a fitness trainer for over 20 years, I’m constantly trying to up my wellness and performance game, and I’m always receptive to trying the latest health trends. I consider myself to be a biohacker, which means “hacking” your biology and improving your health with cutting-edge science and technology. I love experimenting with cool new ways to advance my overall health, my performance, my sleep, and my mental clarity. One of the most mind-blowing new advances that’s become popular in recent years is called cryotherapy. All of my celebrity clients have tried it…you’ve probably seen it on TV or online, where people jump into a frigid booth and bounce around for a few minutes.
Cryotherapy is the science of exposing the body to truly freezing, sub-zero temperatures of up to -140°C in order to stimulate physical and mental health benefits. It also reduces inflammation in the body, by boosting an anti-inflammatory chemical. So, why is this therapy’s impact on inflammation so important? Because inflammation is the root, underlying cause of many health issues and conditions, and simply lowering it can mean a stronger body. And when it comes to cryogenic solutions, the brilliant team at CRYO Science make the safest and most effective devices.
Back to inflammation…I think it’s important to break this down a little more, since many people don’t realize the dramatic impact it can have on your body. Inflammation, or swelling, is a very important process — a crucial part of the immune system’s response to injury and infection. It’s the body’s way of sending a big SOS to the immune system to swoop in, heal, and repair damaged tissue, and it also helps the body defend itself against foreign critters, like bacteria or viruses.
There are also a bunch of diseases that are classified as inflammatory, like allergies, asthma, autoimmune disorders, inflammatory bowel disease and hepatitis. I know for a fact that none of those are pleasant!
Clearly it would be unrealistic to cut out inflammation completely, given how many different bodily systems it affects at any given time. For example, you may be an asthma sufferer who just sprained their knee — that’s a double-whammy of inflammation to fight! But it’s also clear that reducing the overall amount of it in your body will make you feel better and stronger. So it’s not surprising that solutions like cryotherapy are so popular, if one of the body-loving benefits is the reduction of inflammation.
Cryotherapy has been shown to have a variety of benefits, including anti-aging perks, pain relief, stress relief, and even weight loss. Now, a little more on how cryotherapy can help with recovery andinflammation, in particular. As I mentioned before, most injuries cause the body to become inflamed, swollen and red, and reducing that inflammation is how we recover from injuries. According to a slew of recent medical studies, cryotherapy has been shown to help you recover from most injuries faster by reducing inflammation and boosting blood circulation throughout the injured area. My friends at CRYO Science are the leaders in cryogenic solutions — they offer state-of-the-art cryotherapy chambers for full body treatments, as well as devices that provide more localized therapies.
While we’re talking about inflammation, I want to pass along a few other tips for reducing it. First off, you need to eat an anti-inflammatory diet. In my new book, The Cruise Control Diet, I talk about how important it is to eat foods that will lower inflammation, and I give you tons of meal options and recipes that are delicious and healthy. An important component to my Cruise Control Fasting plan — my spin on intermittent fasting where you cheat the 16-hour fast with healthy fats — is that you eat an anti-inflammatory diet consisting of 50% fats, 30% healthy carbs, and 20% protein during your 8-hour eating window.
Next, make time to exercise. Of course I’m going to tell you that, since fitness is my business! Figuring out what types of workouts you like and getting your blood pumping regularly will keep your body fit and make you feel great. And finally, figure out ways to lower your stress. Meditate, do some deep breathing, read, listen to music…whatever it is that calms you down and brings you peace, do it as often as you can.
Exposing the entire body to cryogenically-cooled air promotes regeneration, recovery and restoration. CRYO Science wants to inspire people to live their best and most powerful lives with their cutting-edge tech. Being a fitness trainer, it’s literally my job to be as active as possible, and I spend a lot of time working out both in the gym and outdoors. Exercise is an incredibly potent tool to make your body and mind stronger and healthier, but it also takes its toll. Sore muscles, stiffness, pain, and exhaustion are common after a workout, so I’m always looking for ways to relax and recover from all the physical intensity I put my body through! Getting older also makes it a little harder to bounce back from a tough gym session or spin class. Don’t get me wrong, I’m in great shape in my late 40’s and I feel fantastic, especially on my Cruise Control Fasting program. But my body definitely “complains” more than it did in my 20’s. And of course, our high-stress society is another factor that can wreak havoc on our bodies.
One of my favorite ways to unwind and destress is with a soothing massage. It’s a truly ancient therapy that dates back thousands of years to civilizations that believed in its healing benefits. The hands-on techniques used in massage have been shown to increase circulation, relieve anxiety and tension, reduce stress, improve sleep, and promote relaxation throughout the entire body.
My friends at Myobuddy understand the importance of a good, relaxing, therapeutic massage, and they make the most amazing line of professional-strength massagers that everyone can enjoy. Professionals will tell you that Myobuddy is the gold standard in massagers, and now they’re available for personal use. You used to have to go to a massage therapist to get this level of treatment, but with Myobuddy’s at-home devices, you can give yourself a professional-level experience whenever it’s convenient for you, day or night.
Why do Myobuddy Massagers feel so incredibly good on your sore body? Because their engineers have figured out a way to combine precise levels of vibration, percussion, and frictional heat to truly relieve aches, pains, and stiffness.
When we work out, our body’s soft tissue areas — including muscles, tendons, and connective tissue — can get tight, sore, and tense. Studies show that therapeutic massage is really effective for reducing muscle tension, pain and stress, and other researchers have found that massage can also have a positive impact on anxiety and digestive disorders.
After an intense workout or just after a long, stressful day, a massage really boosts my sense of emotional and physical well-being. Taking some time to relax and unplug with this professional-level device definitely helps me work out all the kinks! Whether I’m trying to get some relief in an acute pain area, reduce overall muscle tension, or just enjoy some relaxation, massage therapy has become a really important part of my personal wellness routine.
Another great benefit of massage is that it helps release toxins from your system. Massage causes chemicals to be released within the body, which bring toxins out of your muscles. Who knew a little hands-on, touch therapy could have so much value! And with Myobuddy’s affordable options, you can find a massager and soothing, skin-loving products that work for you.
Myobuddy Massagers are the tool of choice for clinical practitioners and those seeking professional massage therapy for stressed out, stiff bodies. Check out all their amazing massagers and products on their website, and to stay on top of all that’s going on in the Myoboddy community, follow them on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
As a fitness trainer, I work out with many, many different types of people. People of different ages, different body types, and MANY different medical concerns. Trying to stay active and feel good despite suffering from chronic pain is a top issue for some of my clients, so I’ve had a lot of experience working around a wide range of pain conditions. I’ve heard it time and time again — living with constant pain is really frustrating, and you’ll try just about anything to make it stop. You seek out all the latest research, expert advice, gadgets, and treatments to find relief, but it’s usually hit or miss. Or, you find a great solution, but after a while it doesn’t work as effectively, so find yourself right back where you started.
Listen, I’ve been there too, and I totally understand the agony. You can’t be a fitness trainer and athlete without sustaining a few injuries of your own! I, too, have had to power through some serious pain over the years. And the older I get, the harder it is to bounce back…I know you all hear me! So, I wanted to introduce you to a really cool solution you may not have thought of or taken the time to explore…sweating out the pain. How? With infrared sauna therapy.
My friends at Sunlighten Saunas — who literally founded the company as a result of a personal healing experience with infrared therapy — are big believers in the power of sauna heat to provide pain relief, naturally. Infrared sauna heat works by penetrating joints, muscles and tissues, increasing circulation, and speeding oxygen flow. By reducing soreness on our delicate nerve endings, infrared heat reduces muscle spasms and actually helps the body heal itself, without any pills or patches.
But don’t take my word for it…there have been multiple, recent studies that confirm the benefits of infrared sauna therapy on pain relief, including one conducted by NASA! Doctors understand the benefits of this effective option too, and for years they’ve recommended this therapy for relief from:
Chronic fatigue syndrome.
Other chronic pain conditions.
Sunlighten’s infrared saunas have a history of providing effective pain management therapy for many other ailments too, such as Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD), rheumatoid arthritis, and even emotional pain. The medical community has been discussing the real physiological impact of psychological issues for a long time now, and it’s been shown that this type of therapy works for the pain you can’t see, too. Finding ways to reduce stress and increase relaxation in our hectic, non-stop world is key to maintaining a healthy balance, and hopping in the sauna is a natural, calming way to get to that happy place.
And most importantly, I know many of you feel as if you’re already taking too many medications and pills, and you’re looking for more natural solutions to your ailments. This therapeutic option is completely drug-free, and provides tension-relief to your whole body.
So if you’ve been suffering from chronic pain, infrared sauna therapy may be worth talking to your doctor about. The results I have seen are pretty incredible — and what’s great is that pain relief is just one of MANY benefits you can experience. This type of therapy has also been shown to have a positive impact on cell health, blood pressure, circulation, skin health, detoxification, and even wound healing. It’s a natural treatment option that really packs a punch!

Today I’m recording part 1 of the audio for my new book, The Cruise Control Diet. It comes out in 3 weeks, I am beyond excited for you all to see what I’ve been working on for the past 3 years!
Recording audio for a book requires a lot of energy and a healthy voice. I need to have full energy and stamina to read my entire book. It’s two full days in a recording studio.
Along with having plenty of water, and the proper food to fuel my body for the 6 hour recording days, I use my NanoVi machine for 15 minutes before I record, in the middle when I take a break, and afterwards too.
Eng3’s NanoVi technology repairs cellular damage caused by things like free radicals and for only 15 minutes, can make you feel like a million bucks! This power of distilled water and this technology is nothing like I’ve ever seen before.
I’m so excited that for the past year I’ve started to get into the biohacking world, with all the technology I’m learning about I literally might live forever!
Just kidding, but this device is one of the top notch devices I’ve ever used to recover and reset your body. Cell damage is natural, it is bound to happen, but the NanoVi augments a signal that is naturally generated by the body and is essential to cellular activity.
To learn more about how this happens, check out this link for a visual explanation: http://eng3corp.com/how-does-nanovi-work/
You guys have to try this! It’s amazing for right when I wake up before I record audio, or even right after the gym and my body needs to recover and reset!

As I’ve gotten older, there is so much on my mind and so many different stressors, that when it’s time for me to go to bed, my body has the hardest time turning off. I had a beautiful italian bed that was aesthetically pleasing and super comfortable, but I just couldn’t get into that relaxed state that I needed to get a good night sleep.
I didn’t know that my bed was poisonous… did you?
I am honored to have met Claus and Denise Pummer. They introduced me to Samina and my sleep has never been the same.
I just recently met them and they helped set up my bed in my Del Mar home, look how amazing it looks!
Not only is it beautiful and the color of the wood fits in perfectly with my room decor, but I’m no longer poisoning my body with normal bed components like metal springs!
My Samina bed allows me to reset my body while relieving stress from the following things:
Localized cryotherapy is the application of cryogenically cooled air to specific parts of the body. Did you know that it can be used to alleviate pain, inflammation and speed up recovery from injuries? It does this through cryogenically cooled air penetrating deeper into the layers of tissue and increasing blood circulation.
I’m about to get my very own CRYO Penguin and I can’t wait!
As a celebrity trainer, I am always on the move. I, as well as my clients, need something to help them recover from training in the best way possible.
I started learning more about Cryotherapy last year and I am all in!
As we get older, the things that we eat, the environment that we are in, are all contributing factors to becoming more inflamed. As you may know, my new lifestyle plan, The Cruise Control Diet, focuses on a high-fat, low carb, anti-inflammatory, way of eating.
To add on to this and really activate your anti-inflammatory lifestyle, add Cryotherapy to your weekly regime as it can help to decrease inflammation in the body.
